Thymesia is an action role-playing video game developed by Taiwanese developer, OverBorder Studio, and published by Team17 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S alongside a cloud-based version for Nintendo Switch on August 18, 2022. Another cloud-based version for Amazon Luna was released on September 15, 2022.[2] The game borrows mechanics from the Dark Souls series with both critics and the developers referring to the game as a Soulslike.[3]

Storyline

The Kingdom of Hermes has fallen, and alchemy is now being widely used across the kingdom. Attempts to halt the use of magic have failed, and plague-infected monsters are prowling the streets; the kingdom is in chaos.[4]

Corvus is the kingdom's only hope.

Game Play

Players assume the role of Corvus, covered in a feather cape and plague mask, on a quest to save the kingdom from a plague. Players move around to various locations battling mutant monsters and infected inhabitants.

Reception

Thymesia received mixed reviews on Metacritic.[5][6][7] IGN wrote, "Thymesia's aggressive combat can be enjoyable, but it's an adventure that's easily forgettable otherwise."[3] Although they felt some parts "don't gel", GameSpot said that it is overall "a small, smart, and rewarding Souls-like experience".[8]
