Battleground: Ardennes was reviewed in PC Gamer US, which rated the game 91% and stated "All in all, a most auspicious debut. I eagerly await future releases in the Battleground Series."[3]

Terry Coleman of Computer Gaming World noted that it was "rare that a new wargame company makes much of a splash in terms of units sold, but TalonSoft is off to a solid start with this title."[4]

PC Gamer US nominated Bulge-Ardennes for its 1995 "Best Wargame" award, although it lost to Steel Panthers.[5]
