The Lotec C1000 was a concept One-off Megacar, designed, developed and built by German automotive manufacturer Lotec. It was originally conceived in 1994, and constructed in 1995. The 1000 in the name stood for the number of horsepower it produced.[4] It was powered by a twin-turbocharged Mercedes-Benz M117 V8 engine, capable of producing 1,000 hp (750 kW), which enables it to accelerate from 0–60 mph (0–97 km/h) in 3.2 seconds, and could reach a theoretical top speed of 268 mph (431 km/h).[5] At the time, it cost US$575,000 (worth about US$2.2 million in 2013).[6][7] It is worth about US$7.2 million today.[8]
