NewTV[note 1] (Chinese: 未来电视[6]), also known as iCNTV,[note 2] is a new media platform of streaming television[8] under the callsign of "China Internet TV".[9] It's owned by CNTV[10] (nowadays CCTV). By the end of 2016,[11] the network had obtained one of the seven[12] Internet TV integrated broadcast control licenses[13] issued by the NRTA.[14] As of March 2018, NewTV has 83 million home users.[15]

History

In 2014, the platform collaborated with Xiaomi, [16] which allowed the latter to stream content through Xiaomi boxes.[17] In the next year, it cooperated with TCL and Tencent to create an Internet content ecosystem.[18]

In 2017, approved by the NRTA, NewTV initiated the Internet Television Work Committee of CNSA.[19] A dance platform named "Dancing with the Future" was founded by NewTV and CCTV in the following year.[20]
