Hadean Supercomputing Ltd, commonly referred to as Hadean,[1] is a venture-backed deep tech company, based in London, UK. It provides distributed computing power to help scale training simulations, Web 3.0 applications and virtual worlds for gaming, metaverse and defence. Two game titles the company has supported are EVE Online[2] and Minecraft[3].
History
2010–2017
Hadean are a London based distributed computing company founded in 2014.
In May 2017, Hadean closed a seed round of $2.6m.[4] The round was led by White Cloud Capital and Entrepreneur First participating.
Craig Beddis joined Hadean as a co-founder and took up the role of CEO in June 2017.
2019
In 2019, venture capital company Draper Esprit (now known as Molten Ventures) revealed it was leading a £7m investment in Hadean.[5] The round also included Aster and specialist gaming investor London Venture Partners. Existing investors Luminous Ventures and Entrepreneur First also participated.
Hadean completed a project with EVE Online developers, CCP Games[6]. With CCP Games looking to increase the scale of their multiplayer battles, Hadean helped them increase the number of players in a single match. In March 2019, CCP Games and Hadean hosted a battle with 14,274 ships taking part and more than 3,852 players fighting each other.[7]
2020–present
In 2020, Hadean announced a partnership with Minecraft as part of an initiative to create new game modes.[8]
In 2021 Hadean received an Epic Games MegaGrant[9]. In this year the company also announced a new partnership with Cervus to build a next generation decision support system for the U.K. Ministry of Defence's Defence and Security Accelerator (DASA).[10]
