Abdolhadi Haeri was an Iranian academic and Professor of Islamic Studies at Ferdowsi University. He is known for his works on contemporary Shia history. He won Iran's Book of the Year Award in 1988.

Life

He entered the University of Tehran in 1957 and continued his studies in theology. After completing a three-year university course and obtaining a bachelor's degree, he worked for several years in the Mashhad Health Department. In 1343, he went to Canada to obtain a university scholarship. He studied history and Middle East studies in Canada for nine years, during which time he spent two years teaching Persian language and literature. After earning his doctorate in 1973, he taught for four years as an assistant professor at the University of California, Berkeley. In 1974, he married Zahra Afsharnejad, who was studying in England at the time and is now a member of the faculty of the Department of Mathematics at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad. Haeri came to Iran in 1978 and taught history as an associate professor in the history department of the Faculty of Literature and Humanities of Ferdowsi University. He passed away on July 14, 1993 in Mashhad.[1]
