Usage

To be used to flag broken footnotes with {{broken footnote}}. For instance

This is a sentence with a working footnote.[1] This is another sentence, this one with a broken footnote.[2][broken footnote] This is a third sentence, again with a broken footnote.[3][broken footnote]

The cause of the issue can be varies. Often times, it will be due to

  • The authors or year are missing/mismatched, or the footnote template is wrongly used. For example, {{sfn|Smith & Hunter (2010)|p=12}} should (in most cases) be {{sfn|Smith|Hunter|2010|p=12}}. The exact syntax varies with the templates used, so some investigation might be required.
  • The full citation is completely missing
