Guru is a software company based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania that was founded in 2013 by Rick Nucci and Mitchell Stewart. Guru develops enterprise search, intranet, and wiki software applications[3] that live within a user's existing software workflow [4], such as in Microsoft Teams [5][6], Slack [7][8], Salesforce [9] or Google Chrome [10]

Guru's investors include Slack[11][12], MSD Capital, Thrive Capital, FirstMark Capital, and Accel [13]

Overview

Guru allows organizations such as Shopify, Block, Inc., and Spotify[14] to find the information they need from other software applications using enterprise search, with ChatGPT-like functionality, from within their workflow without leaving the existing application software they are working within.[15] [16]

Once information is retrieved from another software, organizations can choose to store that information in Guru's intranet or wiki software for others to retrieve at another point.[17]

Alternatively, organizations can create information in Guru's intranet or wiki software to be shared with others across their respective organizations, similar to what a standalone intranet or wiki software would provide.

History

After Boomi, LP was acquired by Dell[18], Rick Nucci (Founder of Boomi), started Guru with Mitchell Stewart in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.[19]

Awards and recognition

In December 2018, Guru was named the “Most Integrated Knowledge Management Solution” by CIO Review in its December 2018 issue, which focused on knowledge management. Guru was also recognized as one of CIO Review’s “10 Most Promising Knowledge Management Solution Providers” for 2018 [20]
