The cake is made by mixing rainbow sprinkles into the batter, and when the cake is baked, they melt and leave behind tiny, brightly colored spots in the finished cake. I found that "natural" sprinkles fade in color, while the cheap, waxy ones retain their color after baking, as the synthetic food colorants seem to be stable at higher temperatures. |
