This page explains how to run jPort, assuming that you have installed it as explained in the section Installation.

If you can run the jPort demo version, you can install a new program from the jPort web page.

You can install more applications from Portable Java Program portal (PJP). Simply open "Options " → PJP Manager".

You will see a pop-up window with available portable Java programs. Select needed program and click "Install". You can also remove a program by clicking "Remove". The program will be removed from your local installation.

This window also allows to search for a program. This can be done by typing a name in the search field at the top of the window and by clicking [ENTER].

Preferences and data files

All preferences and data files will be stored on the same USB flash drive. However, you can also use the host computer file system

Installing a local PJP file

You can also add a new application to the jPort menu (in the PJP format) as "Options" → Open PJP file"

What I can do with downloaded free version?

You can run the jPort and use only applications which come with the download free version.

Do I need Internet to work with jPort?

jPort does not require Internet connection, as long as the application is activated. You do need the Internet access when activating the product. You need also Internet to install portable PJP programs from online database.

When jPort is activated?

Second time when you run jPort, it will ask for the username when you click "Preferences". You should type your user name exactly as that used to create your member account.

Where I can find preference files?

All preference files for all applications are in "Files/Preferences".

Does jPort leave some files on the host computer?

No. Everything is stored inside "Files/" of the installation directory

How to copy jPort to a USB?

Simply copy the installation directory 'jPort" to a USB.

Can I have multiple versions of jPort?

Yes, you can copy jPort on many computers, as long as it is registered under your name.

License

jPort is a shareware product. You can use it without activation, but the original package contains only several Java applications.

The source code of jPort has a proprietary license, therefore, we do not provide the source code. You may not reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble jPort. A complete license agreement comes with the jPort application (see the "Preferences") and you can view it in jPort member area.

All 3rd party programs launched by the jPort menu are open source (GNU or similar licenses) and free for non-commercial and commercial purposes. We do not hold licenses of such applications nor modify the original code of these programs. Please contact the original authors to discuss any issues associated with these programs.
